Migration Tool version 1.6

Version 1.6 of good old Migration Tool is now up. Several users on our support forum pointed out that they were unable to run certain InstallShield installers twice. Since we saw this as a serious limitation to the full enjoyment of Migration Tool, we decided to bring v1.6 forward to overcome these barriers as soon as possible.

As a result, features originally intended for v1.6, such as a stand-alone troubleshooting program to combat most common problems with old and bloated installations of FSX, will have to wait until v1.7, pending further testing.

Visit product page to download v1.6. May we remind you that it is very easy to update Migration Tool: disable virtual FSX in Migration Tool, close the program and run the newest installer. It will automatically take care of the old version, and no re-activation will be required.

If you don’t already own Migration Tool, then in addition to SimMarket, it is now available from FlightSim Pilot Shop too.

FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool version 1.5 now available

Version 1.5 of FSX to Prepar3D Migration Tool was moments ago uploaded. What’s new?

  • Version 1.5 brings mostly behind-the-scenes improvements to the program. For example, patching algorithm that creates a mock FSX.exe from Prepar3D.exe got replaced with absolutely new one that supports all Prepar3D versions between 1.2 and 1.4 (newest).
  • Migration Tool disables regular FSX installation for the duration that virtual FSX is enabled. Quite a few users experienced that FSX installation was not fully restored after disabling virtual FSX. This required minor manual corrections, but now the tool itself acts a bit more aggressive in attempts to restore FSX.
  • Native TrackIR support. Previously, TrackIR had to be used in combination with EZdok Camera Addon to get it working with Prepar3D, but as an experimental feature we’ve implemented native support. TrackIR 5 should function with only Prepar3D and Migration Tool installed (and virtual FSX enabled). Please let us know about your experience through support.

To make it easier to follow updates, we’ve added RSS News Feed (read more about it) to our website – see orange button on the right sidebar. RSS News Feed is a standard, simple and non-intrusive way of keeping track of websites. Almost all devices that can access the Internet support RSS feeds.

As always, version 1.5 is available from product page. You don’t need to uninstall previous version, it will be done automatically for you. However, virtual FSX must be disabled before updating.
