Newer versions of Windows are built around a security model that prevents users from working with any files installed under Program Files. While this is reasonable for most software, users of Microsoft Flight Simulator X and Lockheed Martin Prepar3D often have to have full access to their simulators, or they will not be able to install add-on software or run certain utility programs.
Flightsim Estonia has developed SimAccess – a simple wizard that grants full access rights to FSX, Prepar3D and Prepar3D v2.
SimAccess is free, and its installation requires no more effort than just downloading SimAccess, starting it up and hitting “Install”. SimAccess makes full use of what Windows offers and as a result, installs no permanent files. There will not be any performance degradation nor any new annoying icons on the desktop.
SimAccess is compatible with 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.
